Best Wedding Locations in Zagreb
I have only been to a few weddings, enough to realise I am a weeper. You know that weep of joy when you are so overwhelmed by the beauty and the grace of this pure moment of two lovers reading their vows? And another thing I realised is that I really like wedding parties because Croatians really know how to make things super fun.
One of the symbols of Zagreb is licitar hearts. Licitars [lǐtsitaːr] are unique colourful gingerbread crafts originating from the Middle Ages. They are traditionally gifted as a symbol of love and devotion. That is why they are often given as wedding favours. This beautiful heart leitmotif represents the incredible warm energy of the city so it is no wonder you began thinking of starting your joint life here, in Zagreb.
Considering numerous criteria, one could enter into a religious marriage (in one of the most beautiful churches of Zagreb) or a civil marriage (in the City Hall or anywhere else you, your spouse and the registrar elope). No matter the size, season or how formal the wedding will be, the ceremony is the best part that you will definitely remember for the rest of your life. If you prefer a romantic, movie-like ceremony, a majestic traditional one or a cool boho type, there are so many different options for you to choose from. The so-called city of a million hearts has a special romantic vibe running through its streets perhaps enchanting enough for you to decide to get married in it. So, where to my love?
Lauba – the People and Art House
Lauba is a unique place which functions as a hybrid of everything a modern age person needs – art exhibition gallery, business space, coffee bar and a bistro. The complex is in one word awesome. Once a textile factory, Lauba preserves its historical characteristics creating a spectacular ambient, and the tall ceilings and the industrial brick walls are a perfect canvas for a stunning light show. The capacity varies from 20 to 800 people that will dance their socks off.

La Grma
A hidden oasis to make your dream come true – La Grma is also a former factory recreated into a gorgeous hall filled with charm. Not only is the interior breath-taking, but the whimsical exterior will fulfil your experience of an outdoor merriment. There are even a small cocktail bar and a wooden pergola under which you can say the words “I do”.

Matis Absolut Lounge
Situated right next to the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, Matis is a popular venue transformable into anything you can imagine. You could have the ceremony in the garden, have a couple of drinks and a toast by the pool then move indoors into this colourful divine space. I have been there a couple of times for different kinds of events and believe me, it can be styled and set to fit all your needs – whether you are up for a classical “everybody has its own seat” version or a “move the way you wanna” type of celebration. The professional level of their crew is impressive and the food is superb.
Medvedgrad fort
Nothing says “I will love you forever” like the symbolism behind the wedding on the 13th-century fort. The striking viewpoint from the Mevedgrad fort on Medvednica Nature Park fills the romantic aspect of the ceremony making it extremely special and memorable. Hope your love will be as strong as its walls and you will protect each other just like Medvedgrad used to protect Zagreb from the Tatars.

Maksimir Park
A beautiful green pearl surprisingly surrounded by the urban settlement is a guarantee to make your D-day feel magical. Maksimir Park was one of the first public parks in its time. Would you prefer an isolated small ceremony on one of the vast meadows, by the lake or in St. Juraj’s (St. George’s) chapel? Plenty of options for you to choose from, but the result will be the same – a day to remember.
