Zagreb Time Machine
From 19th April until 4th October streets and squares in the centre of Zagreb as well as Maksimir Park will be place of music, dance and a variety of other events as a part of the project called the Zagreb Time Machine. It consists of 10 events, each showing the history and traditions of Zagreb in its own unique way.
If you find yourself walking the streets of the Upper Town, the old part of Zagreb, you will be able to enjoy the sounds of the old love songs and street musicians as well as come across characters that made Zagreb famous – Marija Jurić Zagorka, the singers of old parlour ballads, the city guard, a paper boy, bohemians or peasant women from the village of Šestine and many others.

On famous Dolac market you will get a chance to buy seasonal fruits and vegetables from "kumice", ladies dressed in traditional costumes reviving the memory of thousands of women "kumice" who fed the citizens of Zagreb throughout the centuries.

The Zagreb Time Machine includes Promenade concerts that are organized at Zrinjevac Park. The Musical pavilion, erected in the center of the park in 1891, is the place where the sounds of waltzes, marches, arias from operettas, Italian canzone, jazz and evergreens emerge and spread throughout the park.

Step back in time with the Zagreb Time Machine to the days of old Zagreb style and enjoy the salon music in Maksimir Park, near the viewing point.

In addition, the heart of the city will be transformed into the folk scene. From the Kaptol through Dolac market and Tkalčićeva Street to the Ban Jelačić Square, the citizens and visitors of Zagreb will have a chance to meet the members of folklore groups and dancers evoking the old customs of Zagreb region, presenting them through songs and dances and giving away homegrown fruit and traditional sweets and delicacies.
