#TouristsOfZagreb: An Argentinian Couple on Their First Eurotrip

Read some first hand Zagreb impressions from South Americans, Juan and Federica, that decided to travel through Europe this winter.

Eurotrip!

I met Juan and Federica during their journey through Europe. They are a couple from Argentina, and they started their journey through European continent almost two months ago. So far they visited a lot of places, some of them being: Venice, Rome and Vatican City in Italy, Frankfurt in Germany, Prague in the Czceh Republic and Ljubljana in Slovenia. Finally, they came to Croatia.

I was interested to know why they decided to take some time off and travel.

''We wanted to experience new countries and learn more about different cultures in the world. We´ve never been to Europe before, so that is why we decided to start this amazing journey and an adventure!''

Hello Zagreb!

''Before Zagreb we visited the city of Zadar, also in Croatia, which we really loved. As it's on the coast, it is quite different from Zagreb.''

So, where did you stay in Zagreb?  ''Well, we rented an old apartment that was right on the main Ban Jelačić Square which was great because we were right in the middle of a city centre and everything was close to us. We had a beautiful view of Zagreb cathedral right through our apartment window, which was absolutely amazing.''

City walk

''In Zagreb, we really liked how there is an Old or Upper town and also the Lower city. We loved seeing the Old town and walking through its streets.'' I wanted to know what they liked the most in the city. For Juan, one of the most beautiful places in the Upper city was Kaptol.  ''The Cathedral there is a symbol of  Zagreb, and it is really stunning with the big walls all around the church that once protected the Old town Kaptol from invasions.''  As Juan is an architect by profession, he always likes to see different architecture everywhere he goes. ''I really loved how the Old town of Kaptol is well preserved.'' – he said.

Dolac market

''Another thing that we really loved was the Dolac market. It is an open-air market where you can buy all sorts of fresh food, from vegetables, fruit and fish, and all from local sellers. And also the view over the market is perfect. We loved it there and would recommend it to everyone who visits Zagreb!''

Coming back?

''All in all, we really loved Zagreb. It is a city that you can walk through every part. We loved  how there are beautiful parks where you can walk, drink something or just sit, rest and hear the birds singing.''

In the end, of course, I asked them would they like to return to Croatia again. ''YES! Croatia is one of the most beautiful places we visited on this journey, and we really want to see it in the summer when I think it is even better. We must come back, as just a few days in Zagreb for sure wasn´t enough!''
