Tourists of Zagreb: A summer City Break in Zagreb

If you're thinking of choosing Zagreb as your European city break this summer, read our quick interview with Damini and find out what to expect from Zagreb.
Hello! Introduce yourself to us. Where are you from, and what do you do?

I’m Dámini, and I’m from the Netherlands. I work a regular five days a week job, and I love fashion and beauty.

Why did you choose to visit Croatia and Zagreb? Was this your first time here?

My husband and I were looking for a city in Europe and wanted to visit Croatia. At first, we wanted to visit Dubrovnik, but it’s sooo crowded, so we decided to go to Zagreb instead. It was our first time.

How long have you been in Zagreb?

We've been in Zagreb for a week and we stayed at hotel Jägerhorn

What were your first impressions of the city?

I think it’s a beautiful city with friendly people

Is Zagreb different from other cities and places you've already visited? If so, tell us those differences.

It’s different because there are excellent restaurants and shops, but they are really hidden. For example, there was this nice and posh nail salon in a building that was totally black. It probably still needs to be renovated.

Do you maybe have a favorite out of all the places you've visited in the city?

My favorite place was the restaurant Kavkaz. It has a beautiful interior with gold hardware, and the food was great!

Did you maybe meet some locals while staying here? Generally, what were your impressions of Zagrebians/Croatians?

I didn’t meet any locals, but we did have a tour guide that lives in Zagreb. My impression was really good — nice and genuine people.

Did you try any local food and drink specialties in Zagreb? If so, tell us which.

Unfortunately, I didn’t try local food. We did try to visit a Korean restaurant because we really love ramen, but it was fully booked every day, so we weren’t able to eat there.

Are you maybe planning on revisiting Croatia and Zagreb? Would you recommend it to your friends/family as a destination to visit?

At this moment we don’t have plans to revisit Croatia because we want to visit many other cities/countries. I would definitely recommend Zagreb to my friends/family!
