Tourists of Zagreb: A Perfect City Break
Where are you from, and is this your first visit to Zagreb?
I'm from Bijeljina in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and I'm a fourth-year student of psychology. I'll do my best and share my Zagreb impressions with you in my answers. This was my first time in Zagreb but for sure not the last.
I visited the city with my boyfriend, who has already visited Zagreb a few times before. He always spoke all the best about the town, the people, events he visited. So I wanted to visit it too and find out for myself if it is so beautiful as he told me. And you know what? It was even better than my expectations.

How long did you stay in the city?
We spent the weekend in Zagreb. We stayed in Shappy hostel, which is located right in the city center (Varšavska street 8). The location is perfect. I warmly recommend it to everyone! As my boyfriend and I were late to check-in, the employee Tomislav was so kind and stayed past his working hours to wait for us so we could check into our room past midnight.
As this was your first time in Zagreb, what were your first impressions of the city?
My first impression was phenomenal. The city is very big, but there seem to be no huge traffic jams. People on the streets are smiling, and I noticed many of them are carrying beautiful flower bouquets. The Upper Town left me speechless. The view from there was incredible. Also, we strolled through the main Ban Jelačić square and visited RedBull Soapbox Race which was held in Zagreb that weekend. We also visited the fantastic Zagreb Burger Festival at Strossmayer square. Also, we sat on the grass at beautiful Tomislavac park, enjoyed good food and music from street performers.

Did you meet any Zagrebians during your stay?
Unfortunately no. We spent our time exploring the city, but my impressions of locals are that they are open and happy people, willing to help you out if you ask for directions.
Have you visited any restaurant or bar which you especially liked?
We visited tavern Mali Medo, where you can taste amazing food and craft beer. We also visited Taquitos Bandidos, a little Mexican restaurant where we tried out a new type of food and drinks which we haven't had a chance to taste before.

In the end, would you recommend others to plan a weekend trip to Zagreb?
Definitely! When I returned home, I told my friends all about my trip and how beautiful Zagreb is. I recommended a visit to everyone who has never been before. As for me, I' ll definitely return soon. My great wish is to revisit the city in the wintertime to enjoy the famous Zagreb Advent.
