A Casual Guide to All Things Zagreb – Fashion, Beauty & Souvenirs

While I was getting ready for a wedding out of town, I got to know a few new places in my own city and decided to share them with you. From beauty, fashion and craft, you have it all here.

Last month I attended a wedding. So, like every other girl, I was in full wedding preparation mode. While getting ready, I visited different places in the city, and I’ve decided to turn it all into a fun blog post. So, if you find yourself in Zagreb or you live here, you can use this as a sort of a guide for different places or stores which you might want to visit.

A perfect place for every beauty junkie

My first stop was Skinfinity, a true heaven for everything skin related. I’ve wanted to visit this store since its opening in spring, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity as I wanted to treat myself with something special. Skinfinity store is located right in the city center, on Tkalčićeva street. As I walked into the store, I was amazed by the interior of the store which is polished to absolute perfection, and you can really tell that a lot of effort was put into creating this space. I have to say I haven’t seen anything similar to it in Zagreb. It feels very luxurious yet comfortable and inviting at the same time.

The whole philosophy behind the brand is to give a full experience to the client. So, space is split into two parts: front, where you can buy products you’re interested in and back, reserved for a more personal approach, where you can get a free examination of your skin with the help of the newest machine and modern techniques. After theexamination, you’ll get a full picture of the condition of your skin and advice on how to properly take care of it. In the endthe lovely ladies from Skinfinity will advise you which of their products will suit your skin the best.

Chocolate heaven on Ilica street

After my treatment at Skinfinity, I decided to treat myself even more, but this time with a yummy dessert in KRAŠ Choco Bar. If you’re a sweet tooth like me, this place is a must-visit place in town. For anyone that doesn’t know, Kraš is one of the most well-known Croatian brands for all things sweet. Biscuits, cookies, chocolates and much more. Things like Napolitanke or Bajadera, are so famous in Croatia that I would bet there isn’t one Croatian who doesn’t know of it or haven’t ever tried it. Choco Bar is one of my fave places in town where I often meet with friends to catch up and enjoy a delicious dessert. You can choose among custom-made cakes, candies, ice cream or even chocolate cocktails. The fun thing is that they all represent the most famous KRAŠ treats in a unique and different way. Trust me, you won’t regret visiting it!

Fairy-tale feeling and Croatian heritage

After a sweet pause, the preparation for the wedding continued with a search for a perfect dress. From the start, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. Envy room is a Croatian fashion brand known for its elegant and romantic evening and wedding dresses. I’ve visited their showroom at Vlaška 68 filled with stunning dresses which really have that fairy-tale feeling and I fell in love with almost every single one. So, don’t expect it to be an easy task to choose a dress from them! The one thing that I would definitely recommend to every girl who wants to buy an Envy Room dress is to call before visiting the showroom to arrange an exact date and time of fitting. You’ll be welcomed by Nikica Ivančević and Vjeko Franetović, the designer duo themselves. I felt really comfortable and taken care of while trying out different dresses and finding the perfect one. I’ve also visited their showroom once before when my friend was looking for a perfect wedding dress, so I can confirm their customer service is really amazing, unlike some other salons where we felt pretty intimidated and uncomfortable. After I sorted out my outfit for the wedding, I decided to visit Croata store in beautiful Oktogon passage near Flower square. If you don’t already know the origins of a tie or as we call it in Croatian – KRAVATA – come to Croatia. We like to say that this famous clothing piece was invented in our country. It’s no wonder then that Croata store offers a huge collection of beautiful ties for any formal or business occasion with some stylish elements from Croatian history. For example, on some pieces, you can find letters from an ancient Croatian alphabet, Glagoljica. As my brother went with me to this wedding and was in a desperate need of a new tie, I decided to buy him one there as a late birthday present. I was also tempted in the store since alongside ties they offer stunning leather and high-quality items like wallets and belts.

A perfect souvenir

As the wedding I attended was abroad I wanted to bring a little bit of Zagreb with me. So lastly, I headed into Notes of Zagreb, a beautiful home fragrance store in the Upper town (Skalinska 2) dedicated to amazing scents and all things Zagreb. If you ask me, there isn’t a better souvenir for any interior design and homeware lover than these fragrances. The cool fact about this store which sparked my interest is that names of fragrances are inspired by monuments of Zagreb, culture, and streets. It brings something really unique and different and was a perfect choice for a present. You can choose between home diffusers, scented candles, room, and textile sprays or even dog perfumes. I chose a home diffuser, the Floral Square, named after the iconic Zagreb square in the city center.

So, this is where we come to the end of my spontaneous guide. I hope I've inspired you to visit and explore some new places in Zagreb and that you’ll enjoy your stay here, whether you’re just passing by or staying for a longer time.
